Andy grew up playing soccer in the Kansas City area. He was a midfield player and captain at Olathe South High School. He played 2 years of college soccer at SNU (Southern Nazarene University), which was a Top 25 team in the NAIA while he played there.

Andy then transferred to The University of Kansas to pursue a career in the field of History and received his Bachelor’s of History in 2005. He went on to pursue his Secondary Education Licensure from Mid-America Nazarene University in 2007.

Andy’s coaching career began while attending KU as he went on staff with the Blue Valley STARS (Currently Sporting Blue Valley)  in 2005 and remained with the club until 2012. He coached every age group from U-8 to U-18 on the boys’ side of Blue Valley while additionally participating in numerous camps, clinics, academies, and tournaments.

Andy served as the Assistant Varsity Coach and JV Head coach at Gardner Edgerton High School for the 2008 season. He then took over as the Head Varsity coach for the 2009 season and led the Varsity to their best overall record in school history.  Andy still serves as the Head Boys’ soccer coach for GEHS.

Andy was selected by the Kansas Youth Soccer Association as the 2008 Kansas Youth Soccer Boys Competitive Coach of the Year.  He is also a recipient of the 2014 Joe Amos Champion of Character Award.

He holds a United States Soccer Federation National license and has participated in coaching clinics with Manchester United, Newcastle United, and Sporting KC’s first team coaches and staff.

Andy decided to join TOCA in 2012 primarily because he wanted to make a deeper impact on kids and take his faith outside of the church walls and into his life as a coach. TOCA is very excited to have Andy join us for his great experience as a coach, Director, and for his passion for living out his faith.
