Welcome to the Family, Matt Trumpp. After an extensive search, we are extremely happy to formally introduce Matt to Toca FC. His duties will start immediately with tryouts coming up this weekend. When you see Matt, please take the time to welcome him and introduce yourself.
Matt Trumpp comes to Toca FC after 12 years with Sporting Kansas City and Sporting Blue Valley. He has been full time with Sporting Kansas City since 2010, serving in multiple coaching and director roles. He has amassed a wealth of experience and success during this time and his expertise and knowledge will be a great asset for Toca FC. His belief of using sport to enhance the lives of kids fits perfectly with what Toca FC’s mission is. “We coach to inspire kids and families to become remarkable leaders through our values of Faith, Family, and Futbol.” Beyond soccer Matt is a Social Studies teacher in the Olathe School District. He has, most recently, been appointed to the new Olathe West High School as a teacher and head soccer coach for both the boys’ and girls’ teams. He and his wife Jamie, live in the Olathe community with their sons Braden and Gavin.
“I am extremely happy to have Matt join our family,” states Executive Director Kevin Wardlaw. “This process has been a long one, but at the end, once again, God’s timing is perfect. “Matt has impressed our Toca FC staff for years with not only the style of possession soccer his teams’ consistently play but also his humility.” stated Toca FC Director of Community Development Alec Lemmon. “When Matt was a coach with the SKC Academy, he always treated Toca FC coaches with the highest level of respect and greeted us with a welcoming handshake and smile before and after games. Matt brings with him to Toca FC a wealth of experience and expertise in attacking possession soccer, which I think will help fill in some gaps we may have had in our development process. But more importantly, he brings high standards of excellence along with shared values in the areas of faith, family, and futbol. We are excited to have him joining our Toca FC family and I think he is going to be incredibly positive for the club!”
As a player Matt had a stellar career at Baker University. He was inducted into the Baker Soccer Hall of Fame in 2011. In his time with Baker he helped lead the team to 3 NAIA National Tournament appearances, was Conference Player of the Year, and an NAIA All-America selection. Matt is a homegrown Olathe kid, having graduated from Olathe South High School.
“I’m extremely humbled to have the opportunity to get to work with leaders of the caliber of Toca FC coaches.” states Trumpp. “Over the last 5 years I’ve been able to watch, observe, and work with Toca FC and I’ve been impressed with their faith and their family approach. There is a terrific culture in place and I can’t wait to help with the daily individual technical development of our players. This was truly an opportunity that God laid the groundwork for.”
Matt and the rest of the Toca FC staff look forward to seeing everyone at tryouts!
